College Student Rant

I’m now living in a college, going to uni! I finally feel like an adult(thogh I don’t act like one). Being away from home doesn’t always mean it’s freedom and more freedom: with freedom comes responsibility and with responsibilities come burderns.

I made quite a number of new friends and it’s like student exchange all over again, I’m actually thankful for going on a student exchange programme before because at least this time, making friends seems easier 🙂

Here, I just wanna say to you brat kids out there:

Be happy when you’re with your family, you’ll miss them when they’re not beside you.

Enjoy what you have, sometimes stuff other people have may seem tempting and itneresting, but you won’t necessary like it if you were given the same thing(even if you think you do)

To you uni brats:

Please love yourself, in every way possible: don’t drink too much-you kill your liver; don’t skip class- you kill your brain cells; don’t play music too loud in your dorm-you kill your eardrums (and others’ mood to study)

Study hard. Do Not Waste the money your parents spend on you. Ask questions if you do not get the lessons… Don’t be shy and keep it to yourself, there’s ALWAYS someone to help you: your peers, your seniors and lecturers!

Do your homework. They help in your understanding.

Drink coffee. It helps (unlike in Malaysia where I can actually sleep after having coffee)

I know it’s random, but I need to get it off my chest! There’s more ranting sessions and complaints to come so stay tuned (or not)

To reward those of you who read till the end, here are some pictures:

2017: Uni Life

Hey guys,

Yet another long-time-no-see blog post.

I’m officially a uni student (well, foundation counts right? since I’m in campus :P) Anyway, I’m in New Zealand now, trying to make my way through the whole Kiwi lot and eventually settle down as a student.

I’m an InTeRnAtIoNaL student, and that makes things complicated.

One, I’m shy.

I suck at interacting with people, especially with Caucasians. Since we seldom find golden-haired perfection (you guys know which group I’m referring to) marching around back from where I came from, so yeah, being here makes me freeze in awe when interacting with the locals/foreigners with golden hair talk to me. Plus, the way Asians and Western people do stuff in daily life are so different.

a) We’re gonna be :0 when someone said “Bitch” or “F**k” in the midst of a sentence.

But no, Westerners are TOTALLY FINE with that.

b) If you haven’t noticed, MOST (not all) Asians are not as party-crazy as Westerners (I’m referring to those in college)

c) Asians are too shy, honestly, and I hate that about us. We talk so little, and when we finally do, we said something that makes things awkward.

Western people can chat about ANYTHING when they sit down.

(I WILL AIM TO ADOPT THIS QUALITY BY THE END OF THIS YEAR)

***Change all the “we’s” and “Most Asians” to⇒ I (Miss 16) and there you have it: NERDY ME

Well, this week’s Ori Week, so I’m still kinda new to my new place (DUH) but hopefully things will change for the better in the following months. (FINGERS CROSSED)

Here’s my “remedy” for some of my problems, to change from standard Asian scholar way-of-living to the Western’s, without being in closeness to the Wrong Group of People (like anyone would like to know *rolls eyes*)

  1. Be open when others (no matter what hair colour, lol) come to chat with you, be yourself, no one will judge
  2. STAY away from the party crowd, it’ll be good for your studies. Once you settle down and wanna drink a little, buy it from the supermarket and invite a few of your GOOD friends to your room and celebrate. Refrain from going to the bar. (it’s my opinion, but you’re free to do what you like)
  3. DO not care what others think (Easier said than done) and just do what you wanna do, people with the same interest as you will soon flock to you.
  4. Be nice to everyone. How? Smile when they walk pass you, nod in their direction if you guys have spoken before.
  5. Try to make small talk, but don’t try too hard.
  6. DON’T TALK TOO MUCH DURING BREAKFAST, EVERYONE’S GROGGY DURING THE MORNING

Well, that sums it up: Be yourself. (No. 5 is a bit hard to master)

Good morning. (Whatever!lol)

–>Rambling again, sorry guys!

Class Trip 5S1

To end our beautiful year, our awesome classmates (and some non-awesome ones who did not attend 😛 jkjk) planned a 3-day-2-night class trip which was very memorable for us.

Day One

Our trip started at 4 in the morning. So, I did not sleep very well that night, but meh, who needs sleep when you have a class trip waiting for you? Certainly not me! And when we got on the bus, we started Snapchatting like a mad cow…..before lying down to continue our beauty sleep. Then, at around 8am, we’ve reached a hawker store for our breakfast. A few of us had WanTanMee which costs RM4.50.

Then, we continued our journey to Sekinchan. The scenery was pretty ❤ We took a few really beautiful photographs:

You may notice there are 3 main destinations at Sekinchan, which I liked to call respectively:

  1. The Paddy Fields
  2. The Wishing Tree
  3. The Beach

In all, Sekinchan is a beautiful place suitable for pictures, but unless you’re willing to wake up early to witness the sunrise (or stay back late for the sunset), don’t go. There’s not much to see there.

Next, we went to KLCC aka Suria KLCC for shopping. Some of our classmates went into the PetroSains, but YiAn, Ywei and I decided to take a stroll around KLCC.

Tired, after a day’s walk:img_0293

Well, basically, we went walking around Suria KLCC, since all the stuff there are much too expensive for us to buy. And then, I checked my phone which stated that we walked 12km?! And we were like, “WHAT??!! WE SHOULD TOTALLY CALL KLCC OUR HOMES!!”

You really can’t imagine how sore our legs were after The Walk. It was terrible! We didn’t wanna get up everytime after sitting down, since it was too comfortable NOT standing up.

After that, we went back to our hotel. It was quite a day, but still, this being a class trip, our classmates insisted on making every night a class-reunion night: in which we (26? people) squeezed into a room meant for 3. Cool right?

Bear in mind that the reunion was made after each of us bathed, which was almost 11:30pm. Anyway, we played the game, Killer, and talked and joked around for a bit before someone mentioned it being too stuffy and late, then it was bedtime. img_0304

*all of the videos whilst we were playing can’t be uploaded since WordPress is too stingy 😛

Day Two

Sunway Lagoon Day.

Let’s just let the pictures do the talking first, shall we?

Group photo:img_0325

After taking the group photo, we basically just went our seperate ways. Oh yeah, the reason why our hand gesture in the photo was ‘1’ was because we were from 5S1. Classic 🙂

So, our group comprises SinJie, WanChien, YeeWei, PeiCing, YiAn, YeeJing, MingXin, XinJie and me. Quite a large group. So large that we got lost a few time whilst playing. Well, our plan was to finish off all the dry-land games before starting to play in the pool and slides.

So dry-land it was.

However, I had NOT prepared myself for the 1st game they chose: The ROcking Pirate Boat. MY GOD. I didn’t know what came over me, but I actually clapped my hands in glee and exclaimed:” Yay!” at that time. =.= My bad.Let’s just say, I’ve never even been on a freaking rocking pirate boat (well, once, but that was in a kiddie park during my kiddie times) and this particular one scare my guts out. We were still laughing and complaining when the safety thingys that keep us in our seats came down, mainly because of how tight it was pressing on us (our chest). Then, it started. OMG, we (except YiAn and YeeWei, cos they did not went on the ride) were okay at first, still fooling around, so we shrieked for fun. However, after rocking for 3 or 4 turns, we finally realized something was wrong. The ‘boat’ kept on getting higher and higher. When I thought it was gonna stop, no it just kept on getting higher. Until it was 90 degrees above the ground. Eventually, we stopped shrieking (even for fun, we were too scared to have fun) and just shut our eyes, thanking the god for making the safety thingys tight.

When we finally got down, everyone was like “WHAAAAAAT THE H***” then, yeah. We continued with the FREAKING Roller Coaster. Cool, no biggie. The ride was quite short, once again so, nothing to be afraid of. Just that it was quite a fast ride. Xin Jie, who was quite short complained that she almost flew out of the trailer. But I think it was just the play of her mind. People would kill for that feeling 😉

Then, we played the turning cups which was no fun at all before decided to ditch the Dry-Land (Cos the temptation of the water park was too big) and went to the Wetter Heaven 🙂 I did not go on the big slides and stuff, and waited for the ones who wanted to go on that turn. So, YeeWei, PeiCing and I just trotted around.

***Oh!! I forgot to mention, the blue shirt we were all wearing was our class t-shirt 🙂

When we finally found all the others, we were feeling hungry and headed for lunch. We were given RM15 lunch vouchers so we spent that on our meal 🙂

Lunchtime: img_0317

Scrumptious lunch, by the way, we made a big fuss over the small candy gift the staff gave  to us, as a free gift!:img_0319

*the chicken was terrible!

So, as the scaredy-cat I am, I only went on the kiddy rides at the Spongebob Squarepants Theme Park where all the slides are mini and not too heart-attacky 😛

My friends who are daredevils (or somewhat close to that) went on ALL the scary rides!!!! OM god!!!!

Anyway, after a whole afternoon of adrenaline-filled activities, we finally announced the end of our Sunway Lagoon adventure 🙂

Us, after bathing:

Bye Sunway Lagoon:img_0367

IMG_0363.JPG

** By the way, these and YiAn, YeeJing, and Yee Wei are kinda like best buddies this years 🙂 Yup!

Then, at night, we went to Petaling Street to have our dinner. Everyone was clutching their bags so tightly, afraid of getting snatched by snatch thieves.

Small incident: A cockroach decided to go on an adventure beneath our tables and chairs and caused a commotion 😛 But after a young guy (about 10 years old who works as a waiter there) helped us to step on it (sorry cockroach 😦 ) everything went back to normal.

Here’s yet another group photo:img_0328

And another one at a different angle:img_0329

And tonight, there’s another group gathering at our place (our room). In which some of us talked about how we felt about this class. Most of them were already known facts, but the fact that we were all together on this amazing class trip was nice 🙂 We squeezed into one room (some were on the bed, most of us were on the floor) and enjoyed our last night together, albeit tired as hell!  JingYao (our class monitor, the one with the grey shirt in front of the table in the last photograph) even brought his pillow to our room just cause he was too sleepy, but as our class monitor, he was forced to give a brief speech to all of us 🙂 Lights Out at 1am.

Day Three

img_0336

We started today with a trip to KLCC, then to the Science Centre. Both was boring 😛

Nothing to see at KLCC.

At the Science Centre, we climbed a mean flight of stairs and saw a few things. There was a heartbeat detector, and SinJie tried to raise our pulse rates by asking a few things:

  1. Are you in love with someone?
  2. Do you have someone in mind?
  3. Had someone confessed his feelings to you?

YIKES! Lol.

Here’s a blurry pic of me and my tablemate of 2015/6:img_0340

Before we go, a Starbucks drink is necessary 🙂 Isn’t the cups festive :))))

And that marked the end of our journey 🙂

5S1 2016 closed for business.

Ended in Laughter and Happiness.

Heads Up

Hey guys,

So…. SPM have passed (FINALLY) and I know I have been distant lately (again, again).

But here’s a heads up for all of you loyal readers 🙂 I’m gonna be bombarding Miss Sixteen with lots of posts recently.

Yes, I’ve finally decided to give a damn about this blog.

Anyway, there’s gonna be a post about our class trip, and then my KL Trip and some brief updates about my life 🙂 (aGAIN)

Thanks for all those people who stayed close and read all of my posts.

I love you all.

XOXO

Killing me softly

So, a lot of things had happened in the past few weeks (or months) and I haven’t got the time to sit down and type a lengthy post for this blog 😦

Anyway, here’s another brief update on my life, it’s somewhat interesting nowadays when compared to before, but still boring in a sense that the same things happen now and again.

Without further ado,

  1. Graduation happened.14695466_1474439995906156_1380532675720560103_n
  2. I passed my IELTS with 8.5 (OMGGGGG, it’s still unbelievable to me!!)
  3. ielts
  4. Something romantic-ish happened.
  5. Exam’s coming.
  6. I have confirmed my study plans for next year and it involves going to another country. (Hurrah!)
  7. I can have my hair grown longer as of from now on!!!
  8. Braces are off!!

Well, I’m not feeling very well at the moment due to many complications, some of which being EXAMs are near, heartbreaking happenings, secretive stuff I have to keep and, well, my always depressing mood after a short trip/break.

So, dear fellow readers, my advice is: sail through life and don’t give a damn about what’s gonna happen. It’s gonna happen anyway, so why not worry it when you come to that? ( I know, I know, it’s been said before, but I feel like saying this at the moment, so *SNARLS* WHY CAN’T I?!)

*Ms.16’s friend: Ignore my buddy at the moment, she’s a bit unusual and hormonal, forgive her for her stupidity.*

YOURS TRULY (ANGRILY,HORMONALLY),

Ms. 16

Update: Life So Far

Hey guys,

It’s around our major exam (major-est of our life) this year, and we’re all super stressed out!

~Wish we could turn back time, to the good old days~

And we only finished our Trials a week ago! Talk about stress-control…==

Here are a few things I wanna talk about:

  1. Our song got chosen for the Graduation Thing!!
    • Our girl god composer/sound engineer made this happen! And we were enjoying every moment of the competition/performance we had last Friday, to let the teachers decide whose song should be chosen. And we were like,”Nah, we won’t get it.” Then, I was a bit remorse cause my guitar technique wasn’t that good, and that may cause the downfall of our performance. But our fellow group members were so supportive, love them all 🙂 So, on Sunday (or was it Monday?) we received a message that our song got chosen!!! OMG, thanks to everyone who voted on our song, though, we’ll try our best to make the song better.
  2. Starwalk
    • Last Sunday was Starwalk ( a walkathon in Penang), and it was the day where I catched my first bus and traveled my own ferry-ride, as well as sat the train back! I feel like a grown-up! Though, shout out thanks to our fellow school mate JW for accompanying us back, and  JW and CH for giving advice on public transport. Haha, it was a “hectic” experience, which comprises PC and I ( mostly me)  fretting over every small detail, whether the bus stop we went to is correct, or whether the train is on schedule.
  3. Badminton
    • Today, a few of my friends and I went to play badminton. And our hands hurt so damn bad!!  I can’t even clap my hands or hold my phone properly an hour after the session. But, it was cool getting to play after a few months of not playing, I was quite in form, to be honest, and mom said I did not bad:) But I still lack exercise 😦 Can’t get up from bed today at 6am to jog at the stadium cause of laziness and fatigue…..

And yeah, that’s that! My holiday so far! And my braces are finally off guys!! Woohoo!!

Byeeee!

Whirling in Abyss

20160818

I’m in a part of my life, where everything seems to be of no interest to me.

Sad, alone, bored.

I’m lost in a seemingly never-ending whirlwind of darkness: where the wind blows, where I fall. Lost in the dark, lost in the wind.

I seem to have no mood to strive and fulfil my dreams, no passion to pursue the challenges in my life, no likes or dislikes to matters I once find intriguing or frustrating.

I’m whirling in an abyss, where the faded stars are my only consolation. The different hues of blues- that explains which minute of midnight it is at the moment-my only entertainment.

I’m like the dust shone by the blinding light of the tallest lighthouse-small and unimportant. Yet, I hope to one day be close enough to the source of light which defines me, to one day be the blinding light which define others once like me.

At this point of life, I have absolutely no confidence I can do so.

I’m whirling in an abyss, where no one sees me, yet I see them all so clearly.

I wonder when, will I ever escape from this strong gust of illusion and finally come to the light, where I want to be-where I was.

~Written by Ms. 16
